Amoise Amphora Gris 2025
Description
The Gris is back from the original vineyard and rows where I made my very first wine. This is from the certified organic Osawa vineyard in the Mangatahi Terraces. This is a skin contact Pinot Gris macerated for 10 days before pressing to Tinajas (amphorae). The time on skins imparts the pale salmon/orange colour. The wine is medium bodied, with pear, rock melon and subtle ginger spice notes. Made to be approachable to all and a pleasure to pair with so many different food types, from fish to charcuterie as well as spicy Asian inspired dishes.
Besides being magical and fragile vessels all the same, I love the purity of fruit and intact expression that one can achieve by fermenting & ageing the wine in amphorae.
